Welcome to DailyBarker!

Hi Everyone, and Welcome to the DailyBarker Blog!

If you haven’t watched the video above yet, go for it! I promise it’s a quick one.

Whether you’re new to DailyBarker or have been following our Instagram account for the last few years, I am thrilled that you’re joining me on the next part of the journey! There are some exciting things happening here.

How DailyBarker Started

The DailyBarker Instagram began a few years ago, in December of 2015. While many of you know and follow the Instagram account, what you don’t know is the person behind the curtain. Well, let me go ahead and introduce myself—I’m Christina! The ONE person who posts on the DailyBarker account each day and reads all of your awesome messages and comments! It’s nice to finally meet you.

I had the idea of starting DailyBarker during a very difficult season. It wasn’t something I planned out or organized; I just ran with the idea. In December of 2015, my husband and I unexpectedly lost our Golden Retriever, Beau. Our hearts were absolutely shattered and we found ourselves in a place of complete sadness. Beau wasn’t just a dog, he was our best friend, our travel buddy, and our constant joy in our chaotic lives. In those first few difficult months, we kept seeing the sweetest photos on Instagram of your fur babies, and those photos brought a genuine smile to our faces and gave us so much joy during that difficult time.

I knew that if my husband and I were going through this pain, other people were too. That’s when I decided to start the DailyBarker Instagram account. It warmed my heart knowing that DailyBarker could help bring joy to others in similar situations — or even others who just loved seeing these photos each day.

While DailyBarker has an emotional beginning, I’ve seen such beauty and happiness come from this labor of love. For me, DailyBarker started as a fun hobby and a way to help bring others joy in the midst of the chaos in their everyday lives. It has been nothing short of amazing to watch this “hobby” turn into this beautiful community of hundreds of thousands of followers that look forward to these posts every day! I still cannot believe it has grown to be what it is now — and that’s all because of YOU! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all of your support, and thank you for giving my husband and I joy during such a sad time.

What’s Next for DailyBarker?

Well, I’m glad you asked! After many requests from the DailyBarker Instagram followers, I’ve decided to expand DailyBarker into a blog (I bet you didn’t see that one coming, considering you’re reading the very first post!????). This blog will be a way to grow the DailyBarker community and share honest, useful information on topics such as dog health & nutrition, traveling, training, and products we genuinely love, but also as a way to spotlight dogs doing good in our communities!

You’ll still see the same daily reposted content on the DailyBarker Instagram, but I’ll also be sharing blog content there as well. You’ll be able to find that on the main feed as well as InstaStories.

I have a team of some incredible people helping me make this blog a possibility, but I would love your help, too! If you are interested in being part of the DailyBarker Blog Team, let me know. Please email me (hello@dailybarker.com) with your contact information, a short writing sample, and why you want to be a part of our team and I’ll be in touch with you on how you can help.

Be sure to check back in next week as we dive right in! What are some topics you’d like to see on the blog?

  1. Howdy! Just discovered this site & would love for our specially-abled rescue corgi to be featured on the Daily Barker Doing Good blog. Drover’s is the story os how a discarded, disabled old corgi became a working therapy dog. At 8 years old he is full of life and love & brings joy to so many in our comunity. He is also a corgi explorer and loves going on adventures in the Texas Hill Country when he’s not working. Find him on Instagram @drover_tx_corgi and see the Rescue Corgi story highlight on his page for his story.

    Thanks so much!
