Being able to live in San Francisco gives me access to a lot of beautiful hiking trails. Not only are the views breathtaking, but most of them are dog-friendly! That combination makes the best experience with families and friends. Since my pup is a smaller pup, she spends most of the hike in her bag. Although when she is hiking alongside us, she does work her tiny little paws off! Here are top 2 of Roo’s favorite hiking trails in San Francisco!
FORT FUNSTON
This is one of our favorite places for hikes, mainly because there are so many dogs! There are lots of different type of trails, and many trails are paved so they are perfect for casual hikers and small dogs. One thing I do notice is that since this is an off-leash park, you still have to keep an eye on your pup. Even if you know your dog is friendly, others might not be so. One of the best things in this park is the beach! Hiking to the beach is definitely the most rewarding feeling. here are also tons of dog meetup groups that meet up at Fort Funston.

LAND’S END
Land’s End is probably one of those hidden gems of San Francisco. It is an easy hike with breathtaking views. I love going during sunset. You can see the colors change from the sky as it reflects in the ocean. There are also many couples taking their wedding photos near Land’s End. If that isn’t proof that this place is beautiful, then I don’t know what is! On the hike itself, you can catch views of Ocean Beach and the Golden Gate Bridge. Since this hike is close to the water, it may get chilly and foggy, so come prepared for the cold. One of the coolest things is the labyrinth that overlooks the ocean. One thing to note is that dogs have to be on-leash or in a bag!

CRISSY FIELDS
Crissy Fields is located in the Presidio area. This generally isn’t an “outdoors” hike but you do walk by the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. This leisurely walk puts you right in between the Marina residential area to the outdoors of Presidio. You’ll see many dogs running around in the grass fields while people are flying kites. The path itself can take you all the way under to the Golden Gate Bridge. There are also many fun places around like Fort Mason, which has a Farmer’s Market during weekends.
