We are relatively new to Utah, and when we discovered Moab we were speechless! We live three hours from Moab, so it is the perfect weekend trip for us and our dogs! Moab is such a gorgeous place with beauty like you’ve never seen before. We are here to help you find the most dog-friendly hikes in Moab and share a little bit about them!
CORONA & BOWTIE ARCH TRAIL
Of all the hikes we plan to share with you, this one is probably the most popular. I think this is one of the only arches hike in Moab that is dog-friendly, so it is a must see! The hike itself is AMAZING and the views the whole time are incredible, it is always a highlight of our trip! One tip for all you readers is this trail is exposed to the sun the whole time and it gets really hot in Moab during summer, so be prepared, especially for your pups and their paws because the ground gets very hot. We would recommend doing this hike on a cooler day or early morning! We love bringing a snack and just hanging out by the arch for a bit, its a great area to relax for with a great view!
HUNTER CANYON TRAIL
We absolutely love this trail. Everything about this it is perfect for dogs and people hiking with dogs. When we did this hike with some friends we only saw a few other hikers the whole three miles, it was awesome! I love finding hikes that aren’t as popular and that I can let my dog hike off leash. The hike is great for all skill levels and you get to cross a little creek several times during the hike. The scenery throughout the whole canyon is amazing and you definitely don’t want to miss it! All the dogs loved playing in the water to stay cool and then rolling in the red sand to get dirty again, ha!
This trail is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! We are sharing some photos our friends took on this trail because they are stunning! This trail is a little longer of a hike than the other two we’ve shared, so keep that in mind and always be prepared. The trail is amazing during the fall when the leaves are changing colors and cover the trail!
PROFESSOR CREEK TRAIL
This hike is the longest one in length that we are sharing! This hike is 7.6 miles but completely worth it. It’s another amazing trail for dogs because of all the creek crossings; during the hike you’ll probably cross the creek 50 times or so. We loved it, but be prepared to get your shoes wet. The trail isn’t marked so make sure you come prepared with some sort of map or app to help you stay on course to the waterfall at the end! Watch out for toads and water snakes, but we promise you will have such a blast on this hike.
The last trail we are sharing is not a hike, but an off-roading experience! We couldn’t resist sharing this one with you because it is stunning. Our good friends over on @5280coloradodogs shared their time on this road with us and we cannot wait to try it ourselves. You definitely need an off-road capable vehicle, and always be prepared for situations like this. Bring lots of water and your camera to catch these views and share with your friends.
We hope you love these hikes we were able to share with you. We think Moab is a place everyone should visit once in their life! So if you get the chance you have to check out some or all of these awesome hikes, you will not be disappointed! We love to spend any free weekends in Moab, where do you spend your long weekends?
