When I look back to the first pup my family owned, I can’t help but feel bad. She lived outside, was served a daily bowl full of hose water, and ate the budget bag of kibble that our favorite department store carried. She had a good life, just not a great life. Nowadays, the amount of products developed just for our four-legged family members has risen exponentially, and while it’s amazing to see the pet industry grow, I know it can be difficult to navigate the sheer number of pup products on the market. So, here are 5 items that I’ve found that help keep life simpler and safer for our pupperoos.
EARTHRATED POOP BAG DISPENSER
When you’re out and about and your pup needs to number 2, we as pup parents are responsible for doggie doo-doo duty. I’ve always stuck by moral and ethical companies, but when those companies also make quality products, it’s a match made in heaven. With EPI additive and compostable bags, Earthrated has your doody duties covered while helping to keep Mother Earth happy. Their dispenser is a stylish green pod with a clip that can hold a full bag, so you don’t have to.

HURTTA CASUAL PADDED HARNESS
It’s not that we don’t like using a collar for our pup, Scout, it’s just that if you can use something better than what’s available, then why not? Especially when what’s in question is a minimalistic, comfortable, and stylish approach to keeping our pups identifiable and controllable. Scout has this tendency to slip her collar when she’s anxious, and since she has had a traumatic puppyhood she tends to get anxious a lot in public. A harness helps keep her under control and is virtually un-slippable. Hurtta’s take on this is great because you can take it off with one clip and it isn’t bulky at all. It comes in four colors to help you maintain your pup’s stylish fashion status.
HURTTA TRICK POCKET
It’s always useful to have some sort of pocket handy when you’re out and about with your pup. That being said, I don’t always want to have one clipped to myself or have something bulky to wear. This is where the Hurtta Trick Pocket comes in handy. It’s small and simple design keeps treats or poop bags secure and can be clipped to just about anything, including your pup’s harness. We really enjoy that there is no drawstring or opening mechanism doo-dad to mess with.
RUFFWEAR SLACKLINE LEASH
This leash is hands down my all time favorite for several reasons. First, it comes in a variety of colors. Second, it’s super-duper functional. The handle opens via a clip that allows you to attach it to just about anything, including your waist, for when you want to go on a jog with your pup. The length is adjustable, which helps when you want to run but not be too close to your pup. Finally, the leash attaches to collars or harnesses via their Talon clip which is super simple to use and extra secure.
NITE-IZE NITE DAWG LED COLLAR COVER LIGHT
When you’re walking your pup after dark, it’s important to keep them visible. After all, pups are so low to the ground that it’s not always easy to see them. For a fix that’s easy to attach and super visible I turn to the Nite-Ize Nite Dawg LED Collar Cover. The thing I like most is that it uses velcro to attach to just about any collar, or if that’s not enough, to just about any leash. It has 2 modes of LED light visibility and a reflective paw print pattern to increase it’s night time visibility.
So, there you have it! 5 everyday functional products that will help keep you and your pup safe, sound, and happy! What are some of your favorite doggo products? Tell us in the comments!
