We always take pride in calling New York City one of the most dog-friendly cities in the U.S. They have dog-friendly parks, cafes, stores, specialized boutiques, restaurants that allow pets on their patios, and of course, dog-friendly hotels — we have it it all!
Planning a trip to one of the most exciting cities on planet earth? Don’t leave Baxter and Stella at home; let them be a part of the fun. Our NYC hotels will treat your four-legged bestie like royalty. I kid you not, these hotels have plush beds, personalized accessories, toys and treats, even concierge services to take care everything your little friend’s heart desires. Add dog parks on the hotel property and dog sitters a phone call away and you have one very, VERY dog-friendly city to explore with your pups.
It’s practically impossible to cover all dog-friendly hotels in this one blog. So, if you are currently searching for pet-friendly hotels, I would highly recommend applying the “pets allowed” filter on common hotel booking sites such as Booking.com and Expedia. In this blog, we picked our five favorite hotels in NYC to stay with your four-legged baby. Let’s get started!
SOHO GRAND HOTEL
The Soho Grand Hotel is in the heart of the trendy Soho neighborhood and is within walking distance to Tribeca and colorful Chinatown. Soho Grand is one of our personal favorites, especially during summertime when the outdoor restaurants are open. Doggos are welcome at almost any outdoor restaurant. Throughout the year, the Soho Grand Hotel welcomes four-legged guests free of charge. Perks include organic treats from Bocce’s Bakery, chew-toys, bedding, bowls, doggy bags, leashes, and litter boxes. The hotel also has its own dog park featuring fire hydrant water stations, benches, and designer gardens. Note that only hotel guests are allowed in the dog park — sounds cool right? With a 4 star rating on Trip Advisor, you can’t go wrong with this hotel, with or without Baxter.
KIMPTON MUSE HOTEL
If you really want to stay in the midst of all the action (aka, Times Square) with Baxter and Stella, the Kimpton Muse Hotel should be your pick! Pets are welcome free of charge, but we do recommend calling before you book to ask about the weight limitations. You will receive a VIP (“Very Important Pet”) amenity that’s delivered upon check-in. Leashes, pet bowls, and pet beds are placed in guest rooms. The hotel has a concierge service for dog sitting and dog walking (Bryant Park is just four blocks away). Imagine what an awesome Instagrammable shot it would be with you and Stella surrounded by the bright lights of Times Square.
1 HOTEL CENTRAL PARK
NO VISIT, and I really mean NO VISIT to NYC is complete without a stroll in the beautiful Central Park. Central Park is the doggie haven for all pet lovers and their pups alike. Imagine staying steps from the world famous Central Park and having the ability to take morning walks with Baxter or have a picnic lunch with Stella in this iconic landmark. The 1 Hotel Central Park greets dogs with a welcome amenities like beds, bowls, and healthy pet foods. The hotel even has a dog-friendly concierge team with information about NYC’s best dog parks, pet shops, grooming salons, and more. Oh, and they also have LOTS of treats!
THE HIGH LINE HOTEL
The High Line Hotel is about as dog-friendly as it can get! With it’s own outdoor dog-friendly restaurant and bar (which is open during the warmer months) to the amazing dog-friendly restaurant next door (Cookshop), this hotel has Stella (oh, and you of course) covered. Baxter and Stella stay free at The High Line Hotel and the front desk staff is available to assist with in-room requests and give advice on pet-friendly activities throughout the neighborhood. While dogs are not allowed at High Line Park (which is not associated with the hotel); Chelsea Waterside Park is only three blocks from the hotel and has a designated area for dogs. You can’t go wrong with the Chelsea neighborhood either. The Meatpacking District has plenty of posh lounges and restaurants and is only a short walk from the hotel.
THE BOWERY HOTEL
Again, another hotel Baxter and Stella are welcome to stay free of charge! In our opinion, this is one of the coolest hotels in the city, too (no exaggeration). On days we don’t have any plans, you will find Dior and Obi-Wan chilling in The Bowery Hotel lobby or on their outdoor restaurant (which is covered during winter season) and ordering food service on their daddy and mommy’s tab. Don’t be surprised to find a famous face sitting next to Baxter, sipping their Whiskey Sour and eye Baxter like they’re itching to scratch his head. The hotel rooms here come with fancy dog bowls and treats — all complimentary. For additional charge, you can also add a dog bed and work with their concierge service too!
NOT CONVINCED YET?
If we haven’t convinced you to plan your next doggie-friendly vacation to our ah-maaazing city yet, then you might want to check out the hip doggie scene at the Boris and Horton Dog Cafe! Trust us, you might just want to visit NYC for this cafe alone. And let’s not forget the trendy dog boutiques NYC has to offer — The Max-Bone, Love Thy Beast, WagWear…the list goes on! Hope to see you in our beautiful dog-friendly city soon!
Have you been to NYC with your pup? Where did you stay? What were some of your favorite activities? Tell us in the comments!

Hi! I’m Gauri! I joke that I live two lives: one as a boring finance professional by day and a crazy dog mom/photographer/fashion blogger/avid traveler after hours. When we’re not slaving at work, my hubby and I travel with our boys – Dior & Obi-Wan. Yes, they go where we go!
