Hi, Friends! Happy Friday!
We’re back with another sweet face to introduce you to this month. Meet Amos, the cutest little spotted nosed pup I’ve ever laid eyes on. Melissa (Amos’ mama) submitted him for the Pet of the Month feature and I knew instantly when I opened his photo that he would be a special pup. I’m so excited and honored to share their story with you today! Let’s kick this interview off, shall we?
What is your name?
Hello, my new furiends! My name is Amos Pearce, but you guys can call me Amos.
Where are you from?
I am from Brisbane, Australia. That’s right…I’m living the high life in sunny Australia!
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I am a rescue Catahoula x Beagle and I was adopted by my hoomans on March 28, 2015 from RSPCA Queensland. I would describe myself as super friendly, energetic and the life of the pawty.
I think something that really stands out about me is my unique speckled nose. Mum and dad had no idea how unique my nose was when they adopted me. But now it has become one of the most Boopable noses in town!
My hoomans say they weren’t even looking for a dog…but one night, my dad was scrolling the RSPCA Qld. adoption website and came across my face. They say “I melted their hearts” because I was all they could think about after seeing my picture. 72 hours later, I was home with them and ready to start my new life.
When I came home, I was 1 1/2 years old and I had never been trained before. I did not even know how to sit and had never worn a collar. I was really underfed and you could see all my ribs.
One of the most special things about my adoption story is my mum. You see, my mum didn’t like dogs growing up. She was always scared of them. She will be sharing more about her story in an upcoming blog post, so stay tuned!
Do you have any nicknames?
Yes! Moss, Mossy, Mossman, Moss Monster, Buddy, Buddy love, Amos Pearce (but only when I am in trouble, which is almost never), Famous Amos, and Lover Boy.
How many years have you been on Instagram?
My mum started our Instagram on April 1, 2016! She had no idea what she was doing for the first year. It took her 6 months to get me 200 followers.
What got you started on Instagram?
Mum would always post photos of me on her personal Instagram, but she kept noticing that a lot of the accounts commenting were other dog accounts. She had no idea that dogs had Instagram! After a while, she decided it was time to take the plunge and start an account for me.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Because of mums health, I spent my days right next to her. I am so lucky! An average a day for me looks like this:
Morning: PARTY TIME. We go outside to run, play, and exercise first thing. We usually play fetch, go on walks, go on a trip to the beach, or whatever else mum wants to do! After some morning fun, it’s breakfast time! My mum feeds me a raw diet and I LOVE it! After breakfast we either play tug, sunbathe, or relax outside while doing some calm training.
Afternoon: Naptime! But pretty much right at 3 pm, I am ready to rock-n-roll again. My more intense exercise sessions are always in the morning, so mum adapts the afternoon sessions depending on how I am feeling and what will be happening the next day too.
Evening: Dinner! After that, we go inside and I either go to sleep or mum does more calm training with me or uses my enrichment toys to help me realize that it’s chill out time.
Night: I go out for an evening wizzy wizz and then go back to sleep until it starts all over again the next day.
What is your favorite travel spot?
My absolute favourite spot is my local creek. It is actually the place where I learned to swim! If you follow our adventures on Instagram, you will see me visiting the creek on my stories about 2-4 times a week. It really is heaven!
My second favourite place would be the beach.
My third favourite would be Chew Chomp and Chill, which is basically Doggy Disneyland. It’s awesome. 🙂
If you could be another animal, what would you be?
I would be a kangaroo! I am so bouncy and can jump so high! I’ve jumped out of a dog park once before, oops…
What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
My green ball… oh wait, I mean my mum and my dad!
What is your favorite meal or thing to eat?
- Weekend Pawridge by Suburban Pup. It is the most amazing thing ever.
- Goat or Kangaroo Meals by Whoa Nelly Dog Food. Look, I love food!
- Bacon. Give me all the bacon!
- Anything from Hugo’s Ice Creamery. I once jumped on a table there and made the whole table collapse to get to this ice cream. It is a coconut milk frozen dog treat. Told you I like food. 😉
Tell us one random fact about you that no one knows!
I come across all big, tough, and the class clown. But I am a rather sensitive soul. I get anxious in the car when I don’t know where I am going and I get very overwhelmed in busy social situations, which is why we don’t attend a lot of big social events here in Brisbane.
Where can the DailyBarker community connect with you?
We’re mostly on Instagram, so stop by and say hi! You can also find us on Facebook and producing some fun videos on the new platform TikTok – we’re @amospearce. Oh, and we also have a fun blog. Check it out!
