Thinkin’ about throwing your dog a BARKDAY pawty they’ll never FUR-get and need some pawty ideas?! Then look no further! We’ve got an entire list covering everything you’ll need to have your dog’s furiends barkin’ all year!!!

PAWTY THEME
Choosing a BARKDAY pawty theme is the most FUN part of the checklist! Our pups are our furry-children and one of the fun things about “children’s birthday parties” are the THEMES parents often create around their special day! From BARKDAY princess and all things pink, to sundae funday’s and tennis ball’s with lots of treats.
Whether this is your pups first BARKDAY or the 7th pawty you’ve thrown them, pick the theme that fits your pup’s personality best! They’ll RUV it no matter what! Anything can be a pawty theme! Here’s a list of a few pawesome themes we’ve done in the past:
- Pizza Pawty
- Harry Pawtter Pawty
- Winter ONE-derland Pawty
- Sundae Funday – ice cream sundae pawty
- Pawty Animal – balloon dog pawty
- Doggie Donuts Pawty

PAWTY LOCATION
Location, location, LOCATION!!! Once you’ve decided on the date and theme, finding the pawfect pawty location is a MUST. There are a lot of factors that come into play when choosing the pawty location:
- Will it be an indoor or outdoor pawty?
- How will the weather be? – hot, cold, rainy…
- Off-leash or on-leash pawty?
- Will there be shaded areas?
When choosing the pawfect location, keep in mind that weather will always try to rain on your puppy pawty parade… Some cities offer indoor dog parks or pet resorts that rent their indoor/outdoor spaces. Dog-friendly patios are great too and some are even covered! The biggest thing is to make sure the pups are cool, comfortable, and pawtyin’ it up!
FURRY GUEST LIST
Of course, it wouldn’t be a pawty without the BARKDAY pups pawty crew! Once you’ve set the date, theme, and location it’s time to send out the invites. There are several ways to do this:
- Send an e-vite via an app or email
- Text the information
- Create an IG group chat
- Send paper invites
Whether it’s a small woof-timate pawty or a huge #instafamous BARKDAY, your pup’s furiends will RUV the invite! Depending on the location and size will depend on how many of their furiends can attend.

EATS & TREATS
Treat your pup to a BARKDAY cake they’ll WOOF down! It wouldn’t be a pawty without the cake… and treats… and other puppy eats! Check out your local dog bakery for these woof-a-licious pawty treats. You can also find lots of DIY dog safe cakes, treats, and even pupsicles! One of my favorite DIY’s is bone broth pupsicles and a frozen yogurt ice cream bar!
Now we can’t leave our ruving humans out… There are loads of fun puns on human treats and eats that’ll tie in with your pawty theme!
- Pretzel sticks – go fetch!
- Human cake
- Puppy chow
- Decorated cookies
Whether it’s for the pawty pups or the humans, having the sweetest treats is a pawty MUST HAVE!!!

PAWTY PUP-TIVITIES
Some fun, interactive “pup-tivities” to have at your pup’s next pawty are:
- Water! – pool, sprinkler, backyard water park
- Caricature fun! – have a caricature artist come draw your pup & furry furiends
- Fetch and play
- Photobooth/prop area
- Agility course
Each of these options work great to create a little extra FUN for the pawty! Water is always a great option, especially for those BARKDAY pups who have pawties in the hot summer months. Fetch and play time is another super fun option for those off-Leash pawties!

Once you decide on the above pawty checklist items, your pup’s pawty will be as easy as 1, 2, WOOF! Creating the pawfect pawty is never easy, but I hope this quick checklist provides you with the tools to create your pup the sweetest and bark-tastic day EVER!
Woof, Woof! It’s time for a pawty!
