Thelma and Louise, Rachel and Monica, Batman and Robin…Gordie and Lylle. Their friendship rivals some of the best.
It’s hard for me to remember a time when it wasn’t Gordie + Lylle, or as I like to call them, “Serious + Smiley.” From the moment they met a year and a half ago, they’ve been inseparable.
The best part about their friendship, while they may be the same breed and have similar breed characteristics, they could not be more opposite.
If you read my last blog entry, Life of Lylle: Our Adoption Story, you may already have a glimpse into how this duo came to be. And let’s be honest, chances are you may have fallen in love with Gordie because of it! Gordie has always been a fairly laid back (I realize referring to a German shorthaired pointer as laid back is most likely an oxymoron,) easy going dog that loves anything and everyone. He has the most sensitive soul, eager to please attitude and most impressive unimpressed facial expressions. Lylle on the other hand is a sassy, stubborn firecracker who does as she pleases. She beats to the tune of her own drum, makes it known that she is the boss and has one of the most infectious smiles I’ve ever come across. Together…they make one incredible team.
Every morning since the day we adopted Lylle, she wakes up and brings Gordie a gift. Most days it’s a toy, some days it’s a sock…but every day it’s a gesture of pure love. And every night when it’s time for bed, Gordie makes sure she is right by his side. It’s been so much fun watching their bond develop and seeing their personalities shine because of each other. While every day may be a new day, one thing always remains the same…the love these two have for each other.
Sometimes you can find friendship where you’d least expect. Tell us about your duos in the comments below!
